Swamp Coffin is a sludge metal trio from Rotherham, England, formed in 2016 by Jon Rhodes (vocals/guitar) and David Wistow (drums).Initially a recording project, they released a two-track demo in 2017 featuring Jon's brother, Jamie, on vocals.With the addition of bassist Shawn Denton in 2018 and Jon assuming vocal duties, they evolved into a formidable live act.Their debut EP, Flatcap Bastard Features (2019), drew from personal hardships, including the sudden death of Jon's brother-in-law and a subsequent house fire.In 2021, Martyn White replaced Shawn on bass, and they signed with APF Records to release their debut full-length album, Noose Almighty, recorded over three days and praised for its cathartic exploration of grief and depression.Swamp Coffin has shared stages with notable acts such as Raging Speedhorn, Coffins, and Conan, solidifying their presence in the UK's sludge metal scene.
